The Road King Classic is a member of the Touring line of Harley-Davidsons – the big road bikes with shock absorbers, wind shields, and saddle bags.

For 2010, the Road King Classic, a lineal descendant of these early dressers, has many standard features that would make the older bikes pale by comparison, though.
Besides the 96 cubic inch (1600 cc) fuel-injected Twin Cam motor with 6-speed cruise drive transmission, EPA rated at 54 highway mpg, the 2010 motorcycle has many refinements including a rubber isolated drive system built into the rear sprocket to remove engine pulses from the feel of the motorcycle and trouble free carbon fiber belt drive. Premium four piston Brembo disk brakes front (dual) and rear (single) add stopping power and anti lock brakes (ABS) are also available. There are hard leather saddlebags with tooling and chrome hardware as standard equipment on the Road King Classic. The large touring front end is led by a big chrome Hiawatha headlight with twin passing lights on a chrome light bar where the turn signal lights are also mounted. The large Dunlop tires 130mm front and 180mm rear have wide white walls and are mounted on chrome laced wheels. There are chrome engine guard and saddle bag guard bars on both ends of the bike. The tank has a big chrome Road King Classic badge as do the front and rear fenders. Riding the bike is a pleasure with the pulse damping in the drive train making the riding less tiring over the long haul.

The fuel injected Twin Cam 96 runs strong and the sixth gear makes the bike really smooth at high speeds. The bags and other leather parts have Road King logos, as does the fuel tank and front fender. The brakes are not a linked system; both front and rear actuation is separate just as the former hydraulic brakes are unlike foreign bikes that have the two braking systems linked making the low speed maneuvering more problematical. The indicator lamps include 6th gear light; a cruise control light; mileage countdown to monitor your fuel supply; and the regular engine diagnostics lights, turn signals, bright light indicator etc. The turn signals are self canceling after the turn which is a nice feature not found on all bikes.
